         How to Remember People's Names
                        Â
...EVEN WHEN YOU'RE INTRODUCED TO 7 PEOPLE AT ONCE.
HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU?
You just met someone for the first time, then 10 seconds later you
totally forgot their name, and they remember your name.
How embarrassing!
How about this situation.
You just met someone, talked for quite a while, and then you don't
see each other for several months. One day you run into them at
the grocery store or the bank...and they act like your best friend.
But you can't remember anything about them...but they sure do look
familiar.
How embarrassing again!
Ever had this happen to you?
Your friend introduces you to 5 of her co-workers. You politely
nod your head, shake hands and say, "it's nice to meet you".  Then
you realize you can't remember anyone's name
...and you just met them 10 seconds ago.
Ouch!
Remembering Names.Â
Is it important? Of course it is.Â
Is it hard to do? Not anymore!
OK, I MUST GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.
I'm pretty good at remembering names. If you introduce me to 12
people at the same time, I can usually remember all 12 names without
too much problem.
There are a few simple tricks I use to remember names. But
remembering 12 names is NOTHING compared this demonstration I
witnessed at two of my seminars.
A TRUE STORY
December 3rd and 4th, 2009
As a public speaker, I travel to different cities to give my
presentations. On December 3, 2009 I worked with another trainer
named Eric Papp.  Eric is an excellent speaker who lives in
Michigan.
Eric and I were doing a _"How to Manage Employees"_ seminar in
Orlando, Florida. There were 112 people in the audience that
day.  As participants entered the meeting room, Eric greeted them,
shook their hand and introduced himself.
When the seminar officially started, Eric walks up to the front of
the room, re-introduces himself, then asks everyone to flip
over their table-top name tags.
He then proceeds to go up and down each row, reciting everyone's
name. ALL 112 People!!!
I was amazed to say the least.
Â
December 4, 2009
The next day was even more amazing.  Eric and I were doing the
same seminar in Pensacola, Florida. There were 92 people in
attendance. Because we had technical issues we had to deal with that
morning, Eric was not able to meet and greet participants as they
entered the meeting room. We did not even have time to give people
name tags.
About 30 minutes before the seminar started, Eric walks into the
room and starts casually meeting people at random.  Â
When we started the program, Eric again gets up and identifies each
person by name.  ALL 92 names!
Unbelievable!
I asked Eric, if he had a photographic memory and he said:
_"absolutely not."_Â In fact, he said,
"Up until about 1 year ago, I could not remember people's names to
save my soul."
He then told me _EXACTLY_ how he remembers names. And you will
learn the exact same memory tricks he shared with me and ALL the
tricks I use to remember names.Â
Now... you may not be able to remember 112 names like Eric did, but
would it help if you could remember 7 names?Â
