I Beat My Head Againt The Wall, Searching For The Answers
I've spent my entire life studying human performance, fitness and nutrition. Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to know everything there was to know about becoming incredibly healthy, more muscular, super vital and reaching my full potential - I've been absolutely consumed by it. So I started studying - and hard! I bought every book on weight training, holistic health, fitness, exercise physiology, dieting, human performance and nutrition that I could get my hands on.
When I was in college studying strength and conditioning, I would spend my weekends at the bookstore with my face stuck between the pages of every weight training, nutrition and fitness book I could find. I would take home stacks of journals from the National Strength And Conditoning Association, journals of nutritional and natural health and study every word. After graduating I participated in internships, attended seminars, joined and even began teaching courses on this stuff! To this day, you should see my living room...(my wife can't stand me) I've got about 100 magazines, books, DVDs and audio programs scattered about, all dedicated to bombarding my mind with more information about health and fitness - I just can't get enough!
I've Tried Everything!
I've experimented with over $7,000 worth of protein, vitamin and fat loss supplements. I took pills that were supposed to give me more energy, better mental focus, enhanced sex drive and more testosterone. I used shakes, powders, pills and creams!
I tried diets that included all of the fat that I could eat, but no carbohydrates. I also tried diets that were all carbs and no fat! I followed the USDA's food pyramid. I even tried being a vegetarian... thank goodness that only lasted a weekend!
I trained with heavy weights on machines and "bodyweight exercises only" programs. I did Olympic style weightlifting, bodybuilding, functional exercises, core exercises and boot camps.
Believe me, I've tried it all!
