I had to visualize or pretend that I already owned these items now. One of the items on my list was to become tobacco free. So there I was, sitting in my office, my eyes closed, trying to visualize how great life would be if I was tobacco free. I did this for several days, and nothing happened. I wasn't chewing less and my desire to chew was as strong as ever. What I needed was something I could really wrap my mind around. Something more tangible. The Power of Visualization! Another suggestion from these books was to cut out images of the items you are trying to attract into your life and paste them around you. If you wanted a new car you would put photos of your new car all around you to help visualize having that item in your life. So, to quit chewing I thought of images of health and cut out photos of guys with six-pack abs and photos of people on the beach and things like that. I put those photos all around me and continued my daily meditation. And still nothing. I attempted this for a couple of weeks, I tried to chew less during the day and even tried to go cold turkey a couple of times but failed. This system was not working and if anything, I was actually more stressed and chewing more. Let Your Subconscious be Your Guide Then it hit me. I was trying to hard. I was trying to make a conscious effort to quit instead of building up the subconscious and letting that take over. What I needed was a way to make this fun. A way to make this seem effortless, so I decided to make a movie. I gathered all my photos, found an inspirational song, wrote down some affirmations and put them into a movie. I then published the movie to my computer and started to watch it once every morning and once every night. The results were amazing. After a few day of watching the movie, whenever I got the urge to chew, the images and affirmations from the movie would enter the conscious part of my mind. I didn't even realize that I was thinking these things. But I started to chew less during the day.
