McKinney believed in the goodness of human nature.
After given an assignment from his teacher he comes up with an idea

The idea is to help or do something good for at least three people
and those three people also do something good for three more people
they come across and there for paying it forward until the concept is
spread across the world.

After watching the movie myself, it has touched me in a way that
made very good sense to try this out.
With the world so much in turmoil and many people around the world
are suffering, it just made sense for me to want to do something.
