Before I share that with you, let me ask, do you feel spiritually
broken? OR, do you have money worries, are you jobless, a lack of
education or job skills, physical challenges, or low self-confidence

Fair enough, those can be obstacles to peace of mind, making money,

Devastating as it was, that was the news I heard back in 1990 after
being examined, punched with needles, biopsied, and more, by 4
different cancer specialists, plus a major university cancer center.
Like a whipped dog, I tucked my tail between my legs and returned to
Florida. I was single, had few friends, very little real happiness or
peace of mind, and now, here I was, facing the ultimate physical
challenge.
But, get this. Within the next few days my life changed forever -
for the GOOD - and, it keeps getting better with each passing sunrise.
But, more on that in a moment.
No doubt about it, up to that point in my life, I had never been a
spiritual person or someone who had any kind of relationship with God.
I had believed in God's existence, but, whacky as it may sound, I did
not believe that God believed in me.
As it turned out, I found myself standing on a deserted Florida
beach very early one morning. I went out there in despair and ended up
having mostly a one-sided conversation with God (Him doing most of the
talking) that turned into a 'Pep Rally' of opportunities, choices and
personal responsibility for whatever future I had.
Quite simply, He made it abundantly clear that He was the ONLY
doctor that would put a 'period' at the end of my earthly life . . .
YOURS, too!.
You know what? Today, although I still live with cancer and its
ongoing treatment(s), that "pep rally", and my spiritual growth, have
made my life more successful than ever:

of "things." I had money, a high-fallutin' job title in a large
international corporation, big houses, fancy cars, the right clothes,

Think I'm exaggerating? I continue to see God's image, have daily

physical wreck. I'm not! Those who know me say, _"Barry, to look at
you, I'd NEVER know you'd been through all that."_ I do a strenuous
workout every day. I hiked a major portion of the Appalachian Trail. I
went back to college at age 50. I started and am succeeding in two
businesses. My wife and I travel extensively in our large RV. I am in
demand as a public speaker. I am very active in our church, the VFW,
my Viet Nam Veterans group and I'm making more money than in my
"high-fallutin" corporate days. Oh, and I have a lot more 'toys' as
well - God taketh and God giveth.
The blessings haven't stopped there. God (working through my cancer
doctors) led me to Nashville, Tennessee for an experimental cancer-
treatment program. Because of this move to Nashville, I met and
married Ann, the best friend I've ever had. Plus, God lead me to work
with my doctors to have a portable radiation system in our home so I
can do the procedure before bed, with the side effects gone by the
morning's sunrise.
God wasn't through. He has blessed me richly with a reconciliation,
after 30 years, with someone who has always been a permanent resident
in my heart and thoughts. My gratitude is overflowing.
