Part 6 : Free Online Tools
There are so many online tools that are free and very useful for you. Of course some are better than others. Some will have limited access for certain amount of searches then you will need to be a member. I will list some that are totally free and talk about how to use them. Otherwise if you are willing to pay a monthly fee to get full access and stats you can still do that. I don’t recommend you spend a lot if you are a beginner with a new website, as it is imperative to have low costs when starting your new website. Later on when the website starts to pick up then you can spend more.
The first and most useful tool online is Google keywords planner. You need to go to Google Adwords. This is the place where you can advertise for your website. You do not need to do that now. Just make an account and enter your website. Then from the top menus tool find Google keywords planner. Here you will research the keywords for the monthly searches and competition. Like I have explained before in the keywords chapter you need to find the best keywords.
Part 2 : How to Choose Keywords
Probably the most important aspect when building a web site is the choice of keywords. This becomes even more important if you are running a content/blog website and want to bring in traffic from search engines. The idea here is not to write a post or article then look for a good keyword for it but rather the direct opposite. You have to first find certain keywords that can work for your article then do keyword research and then finally write the article. This is where many people make the mistake.
For example, you want to write an article about diet in general. You complete the article and put in a good effort and you think it is very comprehensive and informative. Then you decide the keyword for my article is “weight loss diet.” The problem is that this keyword is so competitive that your article will not be close to showing in any search engine. If you instead do dome research and find out that a better keyword is “Atkins Diet” before you write your article. Then your article will have a much better chance of ranking in search engine and getting traffic. Like I stated above, do a keyword research that is close enough to your niche and article then go ahead and write your article.
