My name is Marcus Santamaria, that's me with my family on the left.
I met my Mexican wife Elena in Long Beach, California. After we
married we decided to move to Mexico, planning to stay here for just
one year and then move to Australia. Years later with the additions of
Aneliza and Andre, we're still enjoying life in Mexico.
When I arrived here I had two very strong motivations to learn
Spanish. One was to be able interact with my wife's family and
friends. The second was to help people learn English. Despite my high
level of motivation, I really struggled in real world conversations
for a long, long time.
While I was teaching English to Mexicans I felt like a complete
fraud. How could I teach others language, if I couldn't learn a second
language myself?
My shame drove me to search endlessly for a better way of learning
