The ONLY Wedding Planning Guide You'll Ever Need

Feeling overwhelmed planning your wedding and don't know where to start?

Planning a wedding is extremely stressful, and more work than it's made out to be Media and advertisements make weddings look so effortless and gorgeous- but behind the scenes, it's a different story I only wish that the hardest part was finding the right dress!

Hi, I'm Jessica. I got married in October, so it’s fresh in my mind how tough it is to be a bride.

I'm here to tell you that you are NOT alone!

When I got engaged, I was under the impression that this was going to be the best time of my life, and that wedding planning would be a little tough, but mostly fun.

I was wrong.

I could not believe how hard planning my wedding was. Vendors, budgets, family drama...it was an emotional roller coaster.

The last thing you want to hear when you're hemorrhaging money planning a wedding is that a vendor "forgot to include" something on the quote. Come on!

Have you ever spent 20 minutes searching for the perfect "J" font?

Welcome to wedding planning.

Planning a wedding is all about the details...and boy, are there a lot of details to remember.

The food, the venue, the flowers, the cake, the lighting, the seating arrangement, the budget...I needed someone to help me navigate it all, but I had to figure it out by myself.

You're planning the biggest, most important event of your life. Of course you're stressed.

Society does not give credit where credit is due; planning a wedding is a huge undertaking, and it's not all rainbows and butterflies.

You never realize how much work it is to plan a wedding until you're faced with it.

Contracts, financial obligations, and, of course, bridesmaid issues, are all things that every bride must face that aren't very appealing.

The wedding industry wants you to spend your money on wedding related things, so they talk about how being engaged is the "best time of your life", and that planning a wedding is all fun and games.

I'm a realist, so I don't like the sugar coating.

Yes, there are fun aspects to wedding planning. (Like finding the perfect dress!) But the day to day isn't easy, and a how-to guide to get through it all is something that I wish I had for myself.

YOU CAN HAVE THE WEDDING OF YOUR DREAMS WITHOUT WANTING TO KILL YOURSELF

Yep, it's true. All you need is guidance, someone tell you what to realistically expect throughout your planning, some inspiration, and a little humor to get you through the tough times.

Problems Every Bride Experiences
Budget issues.
How do you decide where to cut down and what to splurge on? How do you pay for everyday expenses on top of such a costly event? Vendor issues.
If ever there's a time you want things to run perfectly, it's for your wedding. Unfortunately, no bride on the planet is without vendor problems. Family issues.
I don't know what it is, but everyone starts to act a little (sometimes, more than a little) crazy when there's a wedding. If it hasn't started for you yet, give it time.

Every bride should enjoy their engagement.

There's no reason that planning a wedding needs to be this difficult.

I'm all about being realistic and efficient.

You have to weed through the expectations, the rules, and the etiquette to decide what you really need to do when it comes to planning a wedding.

The devil is in the details, and most people can't figure out every little detail without a frame of reference.

My friends come to me for advice all the time. I started thinking to myself,
"What if I can help my fellow brides out and give them the help that I wanted while I was engaged?"

That's why I created

THE REALIST BRIDE

Everything you're stressing about? There's a solution to it all. I've created a complete how-to planning guide... in chronological order, so you know exactly the order to complete your tasks!

Many brides feel like they're going insane planning their wedding...but you don't have to. Hopefully I'll keep you laughing, too, as you read about my own crazy experiences. (I told you, you're not alone!)

Budget: I go over how to create a budget, give a sample budget to work off of, and even tell you how to talk to your parents about it Vendors: I list every vendor you need to book, every question you need to ask, how to decide between vendors, and how much of your budget should be set aside for each Drama: Instead of just assisting with your planning, I also give tips for dealing with guest list issues, and friends, family and bridesmaids that should be making your life easier but aren't. Your sanity is just as important as the wedding itself!

What Brides are Saying About
The Realist Bride

“Hilarious and Thoughtful”

“Weddings can be hectic and stressful times, and there are a million things to remember and plan, including various rules on etiquette, tipping, and even on how to write the addresses and invites to your guests. It's hard for anyone to keep up, so this book is a must-have. It is easy and fun to read, relatable, funny, grammatically on point (which is sometimes hard to find!), and lists all of the different things to keep in mind when planning a wedding, from how much to tip a DJ vs. a florist, legit tips on picking bridesmaids (she doesn't sugar coat it!), things to keep in mind when traveling to Europe for a honeymoon, money-saving tips, and more.”

“Great for Bride or Bridesmaid”

"You can really tell this writer put a lot into her book--she shares stories (good, bad, and hilarious) and goes the extra mile for this book to be as helpful as possible. There's a ton of research in this book, and pretty much everything is covered. This is the PERFECT gift for a bride to be! I scoured the web looking for a well-recommended wedding planner book when my best friend got married, and I wish this one had existed. It will definitely be my go-to when any other friends pick a date. This book would also be great for someone named a Maid of Honor, or a bridesmaid (to know what to do, and what NOT to do). If you're like me, and you're clueless on how weddings work, this book explains what's expected of bridesmaids and also gives great insight into everything a bride needs to do, so you can be the best bridesmaid you can be!"

“Funny, Informative, and Detailed!”

“Loved this book, very informative and to the point. A lot of details and ideas from the start to the finish and beyond the wedding day that you may not know or even think of, I enjoyed reading about the brides personal experience on her journey too. This book is an enjoyable read, informative and will help you plan for your wedding.”

Rita

“Extremely Helpful”

"I buy a lot of books--a lot of guides, self-help, educational, etc. types, and often times they are super dry, boring, or strange. This book is to the point, blunt, funny, well-researched and extremely helpful. Highly recommend."
