“I wish that I’d had a copy of Reverend Burton’s A Wedding Celebrant’s Guide when I first started my officiating business. He takes you through the entire process, from getting your license and your motivations for becoming an officiant  and officiating, to giving sample ceremonies for a couple to use. This guide is comprehensive and complete. All of my questions were answered, and I found myself being surprised by some of the information about licensing and ceremonies. I would recommend this to anyone who was considering becoming an officiant and those who already offer these services.”

Weddings, re-commitment ceremonies, handfastings, and other special ceremonies that celebrate the joining of two lives, are part of a growing and vibrant industry. And the recent Supreme Court decisions upholding the rights of same-sex people to marry the persons they love, has created a spate of new opportunities for open-minded Wedding Celebrants!

No matter what your spiritual beliefs, no matter what your religious background, you can become a legal and licensed Wedding Celebrant, share in the joy of those who are making that grand connection, and be well-paid for your efforts.

Here is an example: Last weekend, I conducted a wedding. Friday night, I attended the rehearsal, and was treated to a delicious meal at a local sit-down restaurant. The next day, I actually performed the ceremony, and was once more treated to a fantastic, catered meal--with an open bar, had I chosen to indulge.

All I had to do to conduct the wedding was to stand in front of the Bride, the Groom, and the guests, smile, and read the ceremony in a clear voice. I didn't even have to be dressed up; I was wearing slacks and a nice shirt... no tie!

Total work time for me: four hours.

Total paid to me:  $175, plus two great meals... AND I was able to meet some fun and interesting people into the bargain. That's over $40 per hour, without even counting the meals! (Note:  I purposely set my prices fairly low, to be competitive. If you want to price your services higher, you can!)

Does this sound the kind of money you would like to make for four hours of work?

I'd just like to mention a friend of mine, too, who recently had this experience: She received a call from a couple who wishes to elope, but who intend to have a very elaborate wedding in a few months, in Jamaica. They asked my friend to do a quick ceremony (about 5 minutes!) and paid her $100 for that 5 minutes of work. They also discussed the possibility of having her officiate at their wedding in Jamaica!

Does that sound interesting?

"Rev. Anthony Burton's A Wedding Celebrant's Guide is a friendly, valuable resource for anyone new to officiating weddings, or wishing to refresh their practice with the latest creative or cultural touches. Filled with useful information about such important pieces such as: getting licensed, pricing, advertising, structuring meetings, planning ceremonies, and US states' regulations, that in itself is a great reason to own this resource. Beyond those practical pieces of information, the reader will also enjoy tidbits of wisdom, sample ceremony scripts, and different cultural traditions explained in detail. Burton has created a truly useful resource here. Highly recommend!"
