The Wisdom of Crowds?

Stop wasting money on short-lived betting systems and start making long term profits TODAY with ‘The Wisdom of Crowds?’ betting guide!

Welcome from Bet The Horses,

Are you tired of reading about or even wasting money on betting systems that have overly complicated rules, take forever to prepare the bets for, and seem to run out of steam before they’ve even got going? Do you feel that getting on top of your betting seems like a forlorn task and that it seems impossible to make a profit?

Well, we felt like that once too which is why we’ve developed The Wisdom of Crowds?, a betting guide that:
Has made a profit of over 1200 points in the last ten years Has made a ROI (Return of Investment) of over 10% in the last ten years Covers UK Jumps racing all year-round Is easy to understand Takes only a few minutes to follow each day
But first, let’s step back for a moment and tell you why we put The Wisdom of Crowds? betting guide together…

An introduction to betting we’d rather forget!

These days Matt and I feel confident enough to be putting our reputations on the line by talking and writing about horse racing and betting on the web. However, if you’d met either of us 10 years ago, we very much doubt you would have been following us for profitable advice.

Let’s be honest, the reason bookmakers exist is that most punters lose…but very slowly. When most people start out betting they treat it as a bit of fun at the weekend and don’t keep track of what they win or lose.

This means they probably lose anywhere between 5 and 15% on the money they put down year in year out – not enough to put them off doing it again but more than enough to keep the bookies in handsome profits when you consider that behaviour is repeated by millions of punters.

However at some point a small minority of people decide to try and join the elite, the 1, max 2% of punters who actually make a profit. We both decided to try and make that leap some time ago but it wasn’t as easy as we hoped it would be, oh no!

We both followed various tipsters and bought various betting systems. We thought we would hit pay dirt and would soon be leaving our jobs to live glamorous lives of professional gamblers.

But the truth was we were spending more and more money just to lose more and more. Indeed I reckon that combined, we lost almost £50,000 in doing so over the years. Why? Well most tipsters issue tips from their own betting systems and most betting systems don’t work.

That’s because most betting systems are rules-based. The trouble with MOST systems in horse racing is that it’s a relatively fast-changing sport. Punters soon latch onto various betting angles and any profits you might have made from a system are often out-of-date by the time the rules have been identified and the system sold to a hungry betting public.

Yes, making money from betting is really hard work and can take hours and hours of research and form study. No wonder simple rules-based systems don’t always cut the mustard.

Time for a change…time to make a profit!

We prefer a longer-term approach of producing statistical guides. These aren’t systems with hard and fast rules but rather are comprehensive analyses of how betting markets have allowed smart punters to make a profit over a number of seasons. We’re not saying betting systems never work, not at all – but they do have their limitations exposed quite often.

We can’t recommend the statistics-based approach enough. This is how the very best professional punters make their money. Nobody can claim to have a crystal ball to tell you what horses will and won’t win in the future but by having all the right stats in your hand, you’re in the best place possible to start making long-term sustainable profits. And once you start taking this approach, you have every chance of joining the betting elite. It won’t necessarily be glamorous, but YOU WILL have more money in your pocket!

Long-term, sustainable profits

The Wisdom of Crowds? has done the tedious, laborious work for you. As we mentioned earlier this is a guide to exploiting betting markets that:
Has made a profit of over 1200 points in the last ten years Has made a ROI (Return of Investment) of over 10% in the last ten years Covers UK Jumps racing all year-round Is easy to understand Takes only a few minutes to follow each day
Here’s a graph showing its cumulative results over the last 10 years, 2003-2012 inclusive:

Importantly for all of us using The Wisdom of Crowds?, you’ll also see that if you follow the betting angles contained within it, you will find:
Long-term profits Very short losing runs and some long winning runs Low liabilities
So let’s tell you a bit about The Wisdom of Crowds?…

Well, a book was published in 2004 that has now become an established ‘must-read’ title for clued-up business people. Written by James Surowiecki ‘The Wisdom of Crowds’ made some powerful arguments that decisions based upon information aggregated by GROUPS of people were more effective than those that could be made by any single individual within that group. Whilst those theories and observations were well-argued, many have retorted equally well that they may well hold true when a group can work together but don’t work so well when that group has no effective way of pooling its knowledge. Bettors can all see and react to movements in a betting market but of course they’re not working together.

As a result it’s almost certainly a truism when a wizened old gambler tells you that you can only profit from betting on horses when you bet AGAINST the crowd. That’s because ‘the crowd’ will sometimes push horses’ prices to a point where they no longer represent value for money.

At Bet The Horses we don’t want the betting markets to perfectly reflect horses’ chances because if they did we could not make a profit – in other words we hope that the betting markets are never optimised. With that thought in mind we decided to produce a guide that would help you to anticipate when and where betting markets are likely to be accurate or not and to what extent, in UK Jumps racing.

Betting Markets are imperfect and can be exploited for profit

We decided to research whether the favoured horses in any UK Jumps race are profitable to follow or not at all UK racecourses. We wanted to see whether the ‘crowd’s’ (the bettors) ‘wisdom’ (the betting market) produced betting opportunities that were optimised to produce long-term profits.

Our research analysed three different betting angles in our attempt to guide you to the highest level of profit, all of which is explained in full within the betting guide.

We then analysed those results by splitting them into the three types of race in Jumps Racing: Chase, Hurdle and NHF (National Hunt Flat race)

The end result is that The Wisdom of Crowds? presents to you in simple fashion an overview of the betting and laying opportunities in Jumps racing at UK Jumps racecourses, broken down by race type.

We’ve optimised the results so you make maximum profits!

Bet The Horses analysed the results from every racecourse, following the three angles of analysis mentioned earlier. We then filtered out all results that did not produce a ROI (Return On Investment) of at least 5% in the past 10 years. We think 5% is a very important cut-off point for producing recommendations on long-term betting opportunities. After all, if you can’t make at least 5% return on something you may as well stick your money in high-interest account at a high-street bank.

Within The Wisdom of Crowds? you can see:
The name of the course The type of race that produced a profitable betting angle The most profitable betting angle to follow for that race type, at that course The percentage for the number of times a horse meeting the betting angle criteria won the race (strike rate) The longest winning run if the data suggests you should be backing horses in that race The longest winning run if the data suggests you should be laying horses in that race The level stakes profit you would have made by staking 1 point on backing or laying horses that fit the betting angle The percentage of ROI you would have made by staking 1 point on backing or laying horses that fit the criteria
To summarise, we have included the following within The Wisdom of Crowds?
A full explanation of the three betting angles we researched to produce the results 10 years results for each of the three betting angles A summary of the most profitable betting angle to follow at each course, for each race type A full explanation of how to follow the guide and place your bets, whether backing or laying Suggested staking plan A comprehensive guide on how to use Betfair How to contact us with any questions you have on the guide
That’s a lot of work on our part and we think we are giving you product that will deliver you many thousands of pounds worth of profit. So maybe we should be charging several hundred pounds for The Wisdom of Crowds?

Maybe…but we’re not! Just like you we want to pay off the credit card bills for all the Christmas presents so we are prepared to sell The Wisdom of Crowds? for only £49+VAT. We are very confident you’ll find this to be an exceptional investment and if you had bet just £10 on each horse that qualified in the last 10 years you’d be over £12,000 up by now. But wait, we have even more to offer you…

BONUS for our new customers – almost 600 points further profit with Irish Jumps racing data!

We have a special offer for all our new customers. Not only are we going to provide you with 10 years of results for UK Jumps racing data but we also have 4 years of Irish Jumps racing data for you FREE OF CHARGE. We’d done the work so we thought it was pretty pointless to leave it lying around when you could be profiting from all this information too, especially as it could be guiding you to a further 600 points profit!

I’m sure you can appreciate demand is likely to be high. So why delay? Simply hit the ‘Buy Now’ button below and you too could be starting to generate long-term profits from horse-racing betting by basing your betting on statistics rather than rules.

OK, we’ve said all we need to say about what it is you can buy and how it could improve your betting profits permanently. We expect that you might have some questions about The Wisdom of Crowds?, so we’ve tried to answer these below:

1. If The Wisdom of Crowds? is so good, why are you selling it?

This is always the most commonly asked question and it’s a fair point.

There are two reasons we’re offering this:

a) The horses it focuses on are already the most heavily backed in the betting market so it’s unlikely that you adding your money to the pot, whether backing or laying, is ever going to affect the profits we can all make

b) We work very hard on researching horse racing and betting and we’d like to make a few quid from our efforts. We’re sure you’ll think that’s fair when you receive the fruits of our efforts.

2. Can I put my bets on before work?

Yes. In fact you can place your bets at any time before the race. All of this is explained in the guide.

4. The Wisdom of Crowds? seems expensive compared to other systems available. Is it?

First let’s remember that The Wisdom of Crowds? is not a system. It’s a fully comprehensive analysis of 10 years of results in UK Jumps racing at EVERY race course. The value of the information will serve you for a long time.

Second, we want to make it as accessible as possible to people who will use it, and understand it. But equally we don’t really want to sell it to people who want to get rich quick for no effort at all, because they won’t use the information and make money from it – that’s no good for either of us. We hope that the price of £49+VAT is not too high to put anyone off who will benefit from the guide but discourages those who aren’t prepared to put a few minutes work in themselves each day. You won’t be quitting your day job by using this guide but you’ll probably be able to afford a few more holidays!

We think that’s the key questions covered for now, so all that remains is for us to thank you for reading, and to wish you the best of luck with your betting!

Best wishes

Geoff Morley & Matt Cresswell
