YOUR CREDIT RIGHTS AND THE LAWS THAT PROTECT YOU [39]
WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS?
Before we move ahead too far, it’s important that you understand
your rights as a credit consumer.
The key to repairing your credit is the Consumer Credit Protection
Act.
Enacted by Congress to protect consumers from unfair credit
practices, the CCPA also regulates the activities of credit reporting
agencies, collection agencies, and creditors.
It prevents credit discrimination and includes other protective
features.
The Consumer Credit Protection Act contains four important sections:
1) The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) [40]
2) The Fair Credit Billing Act [41]
3) The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act [42]
4) The Equal Credit Opportunity Act [43]
