Quick Facts About Anxiety
Anxiety is pervasive and inevitable in the bustling chaos of modern-day living. In fact, anxiety is the most common health problem in the entire world. In addition, depression is the most common mental health problem and the most common reason for worker absenteeism. It is estimated that over 350 million people currently suffer from depression! Many pharmaceutical companies have taken advantage of this reality.
Over 10 billion dollars was spent on treating anxiety related disorders in the year 2000 alone and it is questionable whether these drugs are working. If you are reading this, you probably want to treat your anxiety issues without any drugs or psychotherapy. You want an all-natural, healthy, cheap, safe, and effective way to completely eliminate anxiety disorders from your life. If you feel this way then you’ve come to the right place. Please allow me to tell you about my own life long struggle with anxiety.
My Battle With Anxiety Disorders
I’ve had anxiety issues since I was around 12. My younger sister was severely Autistic and my father had a compulsive gambling problem. He stole money from my mother and borrowed thousands from many people… and forced my mother to pay off his debts. We lived on social aid for decades. Both my parents were physically and verbally abusive towards me and my 2 younger sisters.
I’m not sure what happened...but one day I lost the ability to eat solid food. Just like that. It was the strangest thing. This lasted for over a year. I lost 30 pounds, and kids at school would throw me in garbage bins or point at me and laugh. My grades were horrible and I basically failed. Fortunately, they let me advance to the 8th grade because the reason my grades were so low was because I had an 11% in Music. Eventually, I went in for a “routine” checkup and the doctor who examined me told me something was very wrong with my heartbeat. She told me that I would have to be rushed to the Emergency or I would die.
The ICU Treatment
I was admitted to a children’s hospital and underwent many invasive tests. Numerous blood tests and even a dreaded endoscopy. That’s when they shove a 6 foot tube down your throat with a camera to check your esophageal lining. They found nothing physically wrong. I had subsisted on a pureed lunch for 13 months at that point. The doctors and nurses were frustrated and they sent me to “7D,” which was a ward for kids who had mental health problems. No, it wasn’t a mental asylum. One kid in there was admitted because he loved to play hooky all the time. Anyway, at 7D I was placed on medication. It made me dizzy a lot but I still couldn’t eat solid food. Then they switched me to a different medication. The stuff made me hungry all the time and I gained quite a bit of weight. Slowly but surely, the pills helped me regain my ability to eat normal food. I actually enjoyed the 5 months I spent at 7D. Any excuse to get away from my severely dysfunctional family was a-ok by me.
The Domino Effect
To make matters worse, the medication was causing some serious health problems. I started developing these disgusting white and blackheads all over my chest, arms, and back. I also had severe acne on my face. I started to have trouble sleeping through the night as well. I think I went 5 years without being able to sleep 8 hours. I also developed chronic diarrhea and urination problems. I had headaches, chills, and chest pains as well. Something was wrong. Very wrong. I went to see my GP and he told me that I had to stop taking the medication. At that point, I was on the medication for nearly 5 years. This medicine is not meant to be taken long term. I needed to stop cold turkey. And I did. Unfortunately, while my dysphasia (trouble swallowing) was much better, all of my other health problems remained afterwards. I underwent many invasive tests, including a colonoscopy and a post void residual at 21, but the tests came back negative. Years went by and I just learned to cope with my health problems. However, everything changed one faithful day.
The Descent into Chaos
Well, maybe a little back-story is in order. My father forged and stole checks from me, my best friend-whom I got a job for-fired me the day after I graduated from college from my job of 4 years, and I spent nearly 2 years trying to find a steady job. 10,000+ applications, 9 agencies, 5 job fairs, 100s of interviews, dozens of scams…nothing. I was working at call centers making minimum wage with 15 and 16 year olds. I had also never been on a date because my parents forbade it. They wouldn’t even allow me to go to my own prom. I was so depressed. My Autistic sister had also gotten so violent that she had to be sent to foster care for the rest of her life. Then my mother nearly died, my sister ended up in jail…things were very rough. The worse 2 years of my life without question. Anyway, this one day I was sitting at home and I noticed that I was going to the bathroom to urinate a lot. I also felt a bit feverish. Then, out of nowhere, I had trouble breathing. I felt like my throat was closing in. I went out to try to get some fresh air, but the baking sun made things worse. I told my father that something was seriously not right. I kept drinking water but I kept peeing. I felt lightheaded and I honestly thought I was going to die.
The Panic Attack
I was rushed to the Emergency. My stomach was killing me and I was bent over in the fetal position. The doctors thought I was insane because it seemed like I was babbling. Apparently, people have trouble speaking when they can’t breathe properly. The nurses ran all sorts of tests on me and then this one doctor told me nothing was wrong with me and that I was a hypochondriac. I went home bewildered and frightened and yelled at my mother. It had to do with God but I don’t want to discuss the personal details. I started to cry and I was shaking. It was only later that I realized I had experienced my first panic attack. I had had enough. I moved out a month later and tried to cure my “sickness” on my own. In addition to all my health problems I was severely depressed. I was occasionally suicidal and I constantly worried about the smallest of things. I was also a Type A Personality and was a misanthrope. That’s someone who hates people. I felt like the whole world was against me, and I literally thought that someone had cursed me. I fantasized about coming back as a Celestial and destroying the planet. Fortunately, God took pity on me and I managed to get my act together…after having spent years in Dante’s Inferno.
Does the Following Apply To You?
Before I go any further, it is imperative that you know all of the symptoms of a Panic Attack. Do you suffering from any of the following?

A very rapid heartbeat.

Palpations throughout your body.

Increased sweating.

Chest pain.

Chest and/or throat tightening.

Very dry mouth.

Dizziness or lightheadedness.

Abdominal cramps.

Nausea.

Derealization (loss of sense of reality).

Feel like you’re going to have a nervous breakdown.

Trouble breathing.

Numbness or tingly sensations.

Urgent need to urinate or defecate.

If you suffered some of the aforementioned symptoms simultaneously, then you probably suffered a panic attack. Still, you should undergo a medical evaluation to rule out any pre-existing medical conditions.
Moreover, the following are symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder:

Constant preoccupation with disturbing thoughts or events.

Uncontrollable worries that interfere with your daily life and tasks.

Insomnia.

Frequent cramps and diarrhea.

A near constant sense of tension and unease.

A constant fear of the unknown and an overwhelming sense of
pessimism.

Constant, irrational worrying over hypothetical worse case
scenarios that lasts for over 6 months.

If you have experienced the aforementioned symptoms then you are probably afflicted with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or GAD.
As for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD, here are the main symptoms according to the Diagnostic Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM-IV).

Having recurring or persistent images, impulses, and thoughts that cause
mental and/or physical anxiety or distress.

Trying to repress or suppress said thoughts, images, or impulses, via other
distractive behaviors.

The afflicted acknowledges that said impulses, thoughts, and images are
maladaptive, irrational, and counterproductive, and that they are a byproduct
of their mind.

Following meticulous, “hand-crafted” protocol that needs to be completed in
a predetermined order or fashion in order for the afflicted to experience
mental and/or physical relief. Examples may include chronic and persistent
hand washing, praying, or the chanting of certain words in a regimented
sequence.

The purpose of said acts is to alleviate or prevent suffering, ominous threats
or curses, and/or other dreaded calamites, according to the afflicted.

If you have exhibited any of the aforementioned symptoms you may suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Furthermore the following are symptoms of chronic depression:

Trouble sleeping and insomnia.

Difficulty concentrating.

Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness.

Inability to ward off saddening thoughts.

Loss of appetite.

Binge eating by turning to “comfort foods.”

Irritability and/or frequent outbursts.

Suicidal thoughts.

Loss of interest in activities that used to sustain/entertain you.

Self-hatred/feelings of worthlessness.

Muscle aches and pain.

Chronic fatigue.

Lack of motivation, drive, or ambition.

Inability to perform tasks that used to be part of your daily routine (i.e., work).

If you are afflicted with several of the aforementioned symptoms you may suffer from chronic depression.
Moreover, many people have at least one phobia. A phobia is essentially an intense, albeit irrational fear of a specific situation or object. There are three types of phobias: social phobias, specific phobias, and agoraphobia. A social phobia is an intense, persistent fear of one or more social situations (i.e., public speaking). A specific phobia is a powerful and chronic fear of a clearly visible object or situation (i.e., spiders, hospitals). Agoraphobia is the fear of being trapped in a situation where escape is either impossible or highly embarrassing. A person with agoraphobia tends to have a phobia of a group of situations that are related. For instance, someone with agoraphobia may be afraid of crossing a bridge; being in a car; and being stuck in a crowd. All three can apply to crossing a bridge in rush hour traffic. However, regardless of the phobia type, the phobic symptoms tend to very similar. They include:

Absolute terror at the sight of the feared
object or situation.

Dizziness, tremors, and/or an accelerated heartbeat
at the sight of the dreaded situation or object.

A marked desire to escape from the feared object
or situation.

Marked anxiety involving upcoming events that
involve the phobic situation or object in some way,
shape, or form.

Frightening, obsessive thoughts about the phobic
object or situation without it actually being present.

If you are afflicted with any of the aforementioned symptoms you almost certainly have at least one phobia. It is also possible to have several phobias simultaneously or have one phobia replace another.
How I can help you
It doesn’t matter if you have a phobia, panic attacks, GAD, OCD, or suffer from depression. As a person who has suffered from all of the above for decades I can attest to the fact that life can be very miserable. With all the problems the world is facing right now the last thing someone needs on their plate is a hearty serving of misery. Anxiety 2 Rest was written by yours truly. It took me 2 years to write but I think it was well worth the effort. I spent years of my life and thousands of dollars on medication and therapy to try to find the solution. Nothing worked. The side-effects were brutal and the therapy was only a short-term solution that ceased to work as soon as I left the office. I needed a permanent solution. Something that didn’t cost any money…as I was unemployed and living on my own. Something that was all-natural, simple, and most importantly effective. I‘m sure you’re the same. That’s why what’s outlined in my book primarily focuses on self-help therapy. You are in full control of your destiny. The book merely helps guide you in the right direction and debunks all the myths about mental illness.
When I discovered my solution to all of the above I was floored. I’ve been using these techniques for years now and all of my health problems have disappeared. I sleep well, my frequent diarrhea and urination problem has all but ceased, and I just feel, well, more alive than I’ve ever been. Sorry if that comes off as clichéd, but I honestly feel like a new woman. I actually love life. Weird, yes, but, well, it’s hard to describe. I just feel awesome. As if I’ve been given a second lease on life.

Dear Mary,

I have been suffering from panic attacks for 12 years. I had to quit my job and my husband left me because he didn’t want to deal with my “baggage.” I sunk into depression and even attempted to take my life because I was in agony. Then God threw me a life preserver in the form of your program. Within days of trying your techniques I felt rejuvenated. I haven’t had a panic attack since, and it has been 3 months. My depression has also completely evaporated and I feel like life is finally worth living. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth M.

Dear Ms. Rosenthal,

I felt compelled to write in to thank you for getting me out of the house. Literally. About 3 years ago I was mugged and assaulted by a teenager. I was so traumatized that I bought a security system and double-bolted locks for my house. I felt safe at home and only at home. I literally spent about 3 years at home, subsisting on delivered goods. I actually felt miserable. I felt like one of those spinsters from soaps and movies except I was living the nightmare. Thankfully, I found your program and finally summoned up the courage to go outdoors again. I’ve been to the library, supermarket, laundromat, and my mother’s house. I feel like the old me again. Thank you for creating your benevolent program.

Best Regards,
Josephine J.

Hello Mary,

Just wanted to let you know that your program helped me overcome my depression. I developed serious post partum depression after the birth of my first child. I gained 48 pounds and was put on disability leave. After having followed your program I overcame my depression and even got a promotion about a month ago. I also lost all of the extra weight thanks to your meal plans. Talk about killing two problems with one book! Anyway, thanks again.

Dear Mary,

Thank you so very much for writing Anxiety 2 Rest. I have been suffering from generalized anxiety disorder for 8 years. I was constantly worried about the littlest of things. If I saw a mark or spot on my body I thought I had cancer. Not a day went by where I wasn’t worried that I was going to die. I felt like just dumping all of my savings into buying a sports car and just drive around the country. I got into drugs and alcohol to try to ease my pain. The high only got me so far and left me with a massive buzz-kill. After having followed your program I got off the drugs and alcohol and have been sober for 57 days. I’m working again and I have learned how to keep my disturbing and persistent thoughts at bay. Who knows, I might be in the morgue right now if it weren’t for your program. Thank you for saving my life.

Warmest Regards,
Brent F.

Dear Miss Rosenthal,

How are you doing? I hope you’re well. I am writing in to thank you for your ingenious Anxiety 2 Rest guide. You see, I have been suffering from OCD for 5 years. It all started when I got Hepatitis on a trip to Aruba. Ever since then I have become an extreme germophobe. I walked around with gloves, even in the summer! I also walked around with a surgical mask on my face. People kept giving me weird looks and I was fired from my job because I refused to shake hands with clients. When I would get home I would wash my hands so hard that they would bleed from all the scrubbing. After following your book I overcame my germophobia in 2 weeks. I can now walk around without a mask and gloves and I only wash my hands after going outdoors and having had contact with objects or people. I think that’s normal, right? Regardless, thank you for writing your book and for sharing it with the world.

Best Regards,
Vanessa K.

Dear Miss Rosenthal,

You are a godsend! I’ve been suffering from so many health problems that I think I lost count. I had many of the health problems that you mentioned you had; such as insomnia, diarrhea, frequent urination, and really bad acne. I thought I had cancer or diabetes but all my vitals were fine. I was put on all sorts of drugs but none of them worked. I thought I was cursed or something. Then I found your program and decided to give it a shot because I had nothing to lose. I’m glad I did, because all of my health problems have vanished since I’ve followed your program. I think I had a combination of chronic anxiety, depression, and OCD. Whatever I had, your universal approach to combating anxiety disorders was absolutely perfect. Who knew it could be so easy?

Thank You,
Mark D.

Hello Mary,

I’ve suffered from insomnia for 20 years. It all started after I graduated from college and got this really high-pressure job in marketing. I became obsessed with work. I brought home my worries and problems and spent hours trying to get solutions. Work became my life. I lived to work instead of working to live. Problem is, I never got enough sleep. I went to bed at 10:00 and would toss and turn until 6:00 in the morning. I was always exhausted and my performance at work suffered. I eventually got fired. At this point my sleep deprivation was affecting my livelihood. I stumbled across your site and gave your program a shot. It turned my life around because I slept through a night for the first time in over 20 years. It feels incredible to be well rested and refreshed in the morning. Thank you so much Mary.

Best Regards,

Dear Mary,

Just wanted to let you know that I overcame my fear of driving thanks to your book. I got into a really bad accident last May that killed my 4 year old son and broke 10 of my ribs and tore my ACL. It wasn’t my fault. I was hit from the rear by a drunken 20 year old man. Still, ever since that traumatizing day I felt like I could never drive again. Every car reminded me of my beloved departed son. The problem is I live in a rural area where there is no public transit. As a result, I couldn’t get to work and I had to quit my job. I was living on welfare and was all alone and miserable. I was thinking of ending my life because I wanted to end my pain. Thankfully, I found your book and it taught me how to deal with my dark past and focus on the future. Your section on phobias also helped me overcome my fear of driving. Ever since then I have found the courage to drive again. It’s my father’s old Honda, but it gets the job done. Thank you for helping me get through this tumultuous period of my life.

Sincerely,
Rebecca M.
