English physician called Thomas Willis carried out much research on

later  - by another English physician called Dr Dobson. He noticed
that the urine samples taken from sufferers of this illness fermented

due to sugar - a fact which he was later able to prove. This sugar,
which we know to be dextrose and glucose, comes from the carbohydrate
or starchy materials which we consume as food, with a certain amount
coming from the protein parts of the diet as well.
