INTRODUCTION TO RIPPED DAD, FAT DAD

The following is the abridged version of the true story of my ripped dad and my fat dad. My fat dad, who was my best friend's dad, used to say that at the end of a hard day at work, there's nothing like a cold beer, a pizza, a double cheese burger and deep fried steak as a reward for a day well toiled. My ripped dad, who was my real dad, used to say that at the end of a hard day at work, there's nothing like an intense workout to energize both body and mind.

Fat dad’s wife always stared at him in disgust as he sank his teeth into everything on the dinner table, to which he would typically respond, “What? Don’t just stare at me, go get me another beer! And whilst you’re at it, pass the salt and some more mash and gravy!” My ripped dad, however, treated everyone with respect, always prepared his own nutritious meals and was very concerned about proper meal portions.

Rather than doing some physical activity to burn the excess calories, fat dad would insist that there's nothing like watching the game and putting his feet up on the sofa. Ripped dad knew that he could always watch the game on the satellite channel at the gym whilst enjoying a gruelling workout.

Fat dad said that he never had time to work out. Ripped dad always said that he had to make the time to work out. Fat dad believed that the best investment he could make was a well diversified portfolio of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and private equity investments, whereas my ripped dad believed that the best investment he could make was
an investment in his own state of health and wellness.
