QUICK FACTS AND SPECIES INFORMATION

_Q:_ Where are Jungle Carpet Pythons From?
_A:_ Jungle Carpet Pythons (_Morelia spilota Cheynei_) are found in
Queensland, Australia. They are a fairly popular snake species in
captivity and are widely available. They have beautiful marketings
which make them very attractive in the pet trade.

_Q:_ How large do Jungle Carpet Pythons Get?
_A:_ Jungle Carpet Pythons are a fairly large snake, though they are
one of the small species of pythons. Adults will reach an average full
grown size of between 5 and 7 feet.

_Q: _Are they easy to keep in captivity?
_A:_ Jungle Carpet Pythons are fairly easy to keep in captivity. They
are a semi-aboreal species so they do climb more than some other
ground dwelling snakes. They can be housed in an enclosure roughly 2/3
the length of the snake. As juvenile snakes they can be a little bit
nippy so it is recommended to handle them regularly to get them used
to being handled. After a short period of time they can become very
tame andy easy to handle.

_Q:_ What do Jungle Carpet Pythons Eat?
_A:_ Juvenile Jungle Carpet Pythons will feed on a pinky or fuzzy
mouse about once per week. Adults should move on to an appropriately
sized mouse or small rat about once or twice per month.

_Q:_ What items will I need to purchase to house a snake comfortably?
_A:_ Before purchasing a snake from a respected snake shop we highly
recommend reading about the species and learning if it will be right
for you. Our Jungle Carpet Python Care Guide is the perfect start and
even includes handy plans for building a custom professional looking
display enclosure for your snake. Along with this information the main
items you will need are: Information, a suitably sized enclosure, a
water dish, suitable substrate for the enclosure, a hiding area within
the enclosure (that your snake can completely fit inside), a reptile
light source, under tank heater (if necessary), a temperature gauge,
and feeding hemostats. A month or so of food is also recommended to
keep on hand.
