To be perfectly honest with you, I did throw one of those dull theme
parties many years ago. It was a dinner party for 10 couples at my
home for Valentine's Day and while I spent many hours planning all of
the details (the menu and table decor, making pretty party favors,
hiring after-dinner entertainment, etc.) for this special evening with
friends, the party never really got off the ground. As it was
unfolding, I knew in my heart that it wasn't what I had hoped it would
be. It was nearly a complete flop -- but I didn't know what was
missing, or what I had done wrong!
That very night I made up my mind to learn everything I could about
