As I look back on my life, I believe I’ve always had Fibromyalgia. Throughout my childhood and teen years, I had stomach pains, achy legs, and fatigue. In my twenties, I experienced these symptoms and started to have problems with my arms which was diagnosed as tendonitis, started experiencing headaches frequently and had back problems.  I had my first massage session when I was twenty-two and knew immediately it was so helpful with my aches and pains and that this was what I wanted to do. I started massage therapy schooling immediately. I would practice massage therapy as a hobby on friends and family for several years and continue to receive massages to help with my aches and pains.
In my mid-twenties, I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. My doctor and I tried various medications which I didn’t find helpful. Eventually, after five years she told me to continue with the alternative therapies since that is what I was finding helpful. At the time, I was working as a project manager. I decided to leave my job and pursue a business in massage therapy to help others with Fibromyalgia just as I was finding massage helpful.

Since 2003, I’ve worked with many different Fibromyalgia clients. Quickly it became clear that I was offering more than massage to support others with Fibromyalgia. I was also a source of support and validation they weren’t alone. I also shared many lifestyle modifications I’ve made to reduce my flare-ups. Recently, I’ve decided to expand the ways I offer support to others with Fibromyalgia and to reach out beyond my geographic area. This includes educational materials, an online support group http://fibromyalgia.bodyworkalternatives.com/login.aspx , and wellness coaching for those who want more individualized support. I’ve released a Fibromyalgia Self-Massage and Stretch DVD available at http://www.massagefibromyalgia.com

I’ve realized everyday there’s more and more information and awareness about Fibromyalgia, but there still isn’t a step-by-step easy to follow program along with support and a community network to educate, share information, and implement lifestyle changes to master Fibromyalgia. I started to design such a program and this eBook is the foundation of the concepts of the program.
During the last ten years since I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I’ve gained control of my flare-ups and live a quality life without medications. I’m a mother of two children, run a business, have a very active social life, and am very active. I walk regularly, do yoga, weight train, rollerblade and I’ve even trained and walked the Breast Cancer 3Day 60 mile walk in 2007.
I would also love your feedback and thoughts you have. Please email me at [lisameloche@bodyworkalternatives.com](mailto:lisameloche@bodyworkalternatives.com)

Let’s all join together in this journey to become a FibroMaster.
