DEAR INTERNET MARKETER,
If you don't already own a decent mailing list to monetize from,
then you are not likely to survive the economic challenges this year.
By the way, a 'decent mailing list' is NOT a mass of names and email
addresses. If no one buys from you, having a big list is only good for
bragging. You need a pool of hot, hungry buyers waiting to give you
money every time you ask for it - not an ocean of tire-kickers.
And if you get lots of prospective buyers, but end up losing them
eventually with sky-high opt-out rates, you're bleeding cash. It makes
no sense to spend time and money building a list of prospects who
later abandon you for your competitors.
But before I explain all that, let's clarify the basics...
"SO, WHAT IS THIS 'LIST' EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE TALKING ABOUT?"
You have probably heard the famous mantra: "THE MONEY IS IN THE

If you have no idea what it means, I don't blame you.
Too many people online don't know what they are talking about, but
act like they do. Even seasoned marketers are leaving money on the
table because they get this part wrong.
A list contains names and email addresses of people who:
1) Are likely to buy what sell, and
2) Have given you permission to sell to them.
Simple, right?
IT'S A MAILING LIST FULL OF POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS.
When you have a list, you can send offers to them to buy something.
This is NOT spamming. You must build a relationship with your people
and provide relevant messages to them in order to be successful.
WHY BUILD A LIST?
If you have been online for some time, you know that traffic is the
currency of the Internet. Once you built your list, you never have to
worry about getting traffic, EVER.
Here's why...
All I need to do is send an email to my list, invite them to click
on a link to my website, and voila...
"TA-DA!INSTANT TRAFFIC!"
All my traffic can now be "stored" like a genie in a bottle. In
fact, if you play your cards right, you can make money clicking the
"Send" button in your email software and have orders pouring in --
within minutes! I have seen it happened before and also done it myself
several times.
But before I get carried away, let me explain.
"THE REAL REASON WHY SOME MARKETERS WILL ALMOST ALWAYS NEVER MAKE
MONEY..."
Ever since the recession officially began in Nov 2007, more people
have experienced difficulty in seeking employment. In the effort to
gain more income to pay off bills, they are coming online to make a
living by selling products and services. Here's why this will present
a challenge:
* If you look at job losses in the U.S. for 2008, ALMOST JOBS WERE
LOST WITH UNEMPLOYMENT NEAR 10%. According to a hiring survey by Dice
Holdings, two-thirds of companies will scale back hiring for the first
six months of 2009. And to make matters worse, one-third of companies
expect to lay off their existing employees. If you thought that was
devastating, hear this out...
* According to other sources: IN 2009, THE U.S. WILL CONTINUE TO
LOSE ANOTHER 2.5 MILLION JOBS. And that's on top of the 1.9 million
jobs lost in the first 11 months of 2008. Unemployment rates is to
peak at 8.7 percent by the end of the year, up from 6.7% currently. In
fact, some experts predict the rate could rise 9 percent or more. MY
POINT: there is a tight labor market there and it does not seem to be
improving.
* Finally, a quick check on Google.com for the keyword "making
money online" revealed NO LESS THAN 45,000,000 SEARCH RESULTS AND 381
SPONSORED LINKS! As for the keyword "make money online", there are
35,100,000 search results and 397 sponsored links. Those are ample
resources for people to get started online, while not all of them are
legitimate deals, it is a strong indicator that a lot of people
(including those suffering from job losses) are searching for a better
income on the Internet.
So here's what I'm getting at...
There is going to be stiff competition on the Internet this year.
These people are hungry, desperate, and with very little money left,
they are willing to do whatever it takes. Even as I'm writing this,
there are new competitors appearing in my industry trying to steal my
customers.
It gets worse... what I found out later in my research gave me a
rude shock.

Not too long ago, I ran a survey on every Internet marketer I could
