LIVING IN HELL

Three years ago my life was a living Hell.

A “normal” day for me back then would include 10 or 15 panic
attacks. They were HUGE attacks too. The kind that would leave me
curled up in a corner somewhere, crying, shaking, too exhausted to do
anything.

It didn’t get much better when the attacks stopped. Because even
then I had to live with the general anxiety that had ruined my life
for the previous 17 years.

And I was living in fear, all day, every day.

I was scared that any minute I’d have another panic attack. When
an attack came I was scared I was going to die.

When my anxiety caused physical symptoms like headaches, dizziness,
depersonalization, and palpitations, I was scared I had some terrible
illness that was going to kill me.

If I had to leave the “safety” of my house I was terrified I’d
have a panic attack out in the street.

And pretty much every minute of my day I was scared that my life
would always be that way. That it would never get better.

So when I say I lived in fear, I MEAN it.

I tried everything possible to stop my anxiety and panic, AND my
fear. I really did.

I lost count of how many times I saw my doctor. And seeing her
wasn’t an easy thing to do when just the thought of leaving the
house was enough to make me throw up.

In the end she put me on medication. First sedatives, which numbed
me to the point where half the time I didn’t know where I was.

Then anti-depressants.

And not just ONE anti-depressant. THREE of them. Because the first
two caused such unbearable side-effects I couldn’t stand them for
more than a couple of days.

I was on a cocktail of drugs for more than 9 months, and you know
the crazy thing? My anxiety and panic were as bad as ever. And I was
still having all the panic attacks. And I was still living in fear.

Actually, things were WORSE. Now, as well as my anxiety problems, I
also had to deal with the side-effects from the medications I was
taking.

My family were telling me to get some help.

Some _PSYCHIATRY_-type help.

But I’d already had 3 months of sessions with a psychologist 6
months before.

The psychologist had me talking to empty chairs where my dead father
was “supposed” to be sitting. Really helpful stuff.

My sessions with her were pointless, and seeing her each week had
become one of my biggest worries. And extra fears and worries were the
LAST thing I needed.

I’d tried to help myself by reading books on anxiety too. I read
dozens of them. Stuff on cognitive behavioural therapy, distraction
techniques, relaxation, positive thinking.

I’d tried it all.

And even after everything, I still found myself curled up in a ball
in the corner of my bedroom one night, having THE LONGEST, MOST AWFUL,
MOST SCARY PANIC ATTACK OF MY LIFE.

This was two and a half years ago now.

My memory of that night will never leave me. From midnight until 7
the next morning I’d had one long and unbearable and terrifying
panic attack.

It just wouldn’t stop.

I really thought I was losing my mind. I’d locked myself in my
bedroom because I was sure if any of my family got in they would have
me put in a mental asylum.

When the morning came, and my mind had cleared enough for me to
think straight, I knew it had to stop. It had to end.

I knew that the anxiety and the panic and the fear had to end.

It was killing me. I couldn’t go on like that.

I made a decision while I was still curled up in a ball in the
corner of my bedroom floor. I would find a way. I would do whatever it
took to stop my panic, my anxiety, my fear.

I would do WHATEVER it took to get my life back.

What I did that day was drag myself up off the floor and over to my
computer. I went to Amazon.com and looked up books on the subject of
fear.

Because it was the FEAR the previous night that had been unbearable.
It was the fear that had made me sure I was losing my mind, and it was
the fear that had made me sure I would lose my life to anxiety and
panic.

I wanted to know everything there was to know about fear so that
maybe I would get some control over it.

So I ordered 5 books on fear, almost randomly.

A couple of days later those books arrived, and one of them changed
my life. The book was called “The Gift of Fear,” and the crazy
thing was, it wasn’t anything to do with anxiety or panic.

It was a book about violence and how to stay safe in such a
dangerous world.

But the author of that book, Gavin DeBecker, had such an amazing
understanding of fear, how it develops and what it does to us, that I
started seeing so many ways I could apply his ideas to my own life and
to my problems with anxiety.

By the time I finished “The Gift of Fear” my anxiety was already
in better shape than it had been in years.

And even better than that, I had hope for the first time that there
WERE solutions to the problems I was having.

For so long I’d been looking for answers in books about anxiety,
depression, relaxation, positive thinking. And then suddenly I found
answers in a book that was nothing to do with any of those subjects.

That made me realise that there were ideas and techniques and
strategies out there that could help me, but that they weren’t in
the places where people like you and me were looking.

So I read some more. I read a LOT more. But this time I didn’t
just read books on anxiety and all the usual stuff. This time I read
about anything that has an effect on our minds, our bodies, and the
way we think, feel and act.

AND I DISCOVERED GENUINE MIRACLES.

Things that I never would have dreamed would help the way they
turned out to. And the ideas were turning up in places where no one
would have ever expected to find them.

I discovered tricks and techniques and ideas in books about raising
children, business management, dog psychology (yes, dog psychology,
really!), marriage guidance, alcohol addiction, drug addiction, fear,
and too many more to mention.

The answers I was looking for were just appearing in front of me
like magic, and if I hadn’t been in such a mess, I’d have laughed
at the fact that the answers were there right under my nose for all
the years I suffered.

Every time I learned something new that worked, my life got better.

First of all I noticed my general anxiety was getting better and
better every day. Then I noticed that I was sleeping better. Then I
noticed that I was leaving the house without worrying about anything
like I always used to.

AND THEN SOMETHING REALLY WEIRD HAPPENED

After 17 years of having panic attacks, they stopped. Just like
that. I just realised one day that I hadn’t had one for a week.

Suddenly everything was so clear. I could see EVERYTHING.

* I could look at a technique that I learned from a book on
business management and see that it was the reason I was sleeping so
well
* I could look at a trick I learned from a book on overcoming
alcohol addiction and see it was why I could now leave the house with
no anxiety at all
* I could look at one of the books on fear that I’d read and see
how it had caused my panic attacks to have been shut off like a light
switch

And it was all so EASY.

I got so excited about the results that I was getting that I wanted
to see if they could help OTHER people too.

After so many years of living with multiple anxiety disorders, I’d
made quite a few online friends who had all the same problems as me.

So I started sharing my ideas with them.

And one by one, they started to get the same results that I’d
gotten. Even more amazing was that I was starting to get REALLY good
at showing people how to use the ideas I’d discovered.

Eventually it all got refined into my own method, and I took it to
another level.

I started my first website, PreventYourPanic.com, and I put all my
best ideas into a series of videos called “Beat Panic Today.” I
wanted as many people to benefit from the techniques I’d discovered
and created, and the website seemed like the best way to reach the
most people.

That was a couple of years ago now, and I’m incredibly honoured to
be able to say that MORE THAN 4,000 PEOPLE HAVE NOW GONE THROUGH MY
VIDEOS and allowed me to help them make the same recovery I made
myself.

Every week I get dozens of emails from people whose lives have been
dominated and ruined by anxiety and panic for years, and now with the
help of my techniques they are finally overcoming their problems.

It never fails to move me. Because I’ve been there too. I was
there for 17 years of my life, and I know what it means to overcome
it.

It’s really important for you to know how successful my techniques
have been at stopping anxiety disorders for THOUSANDS of people.
Because if these techniques helped them and helped me, they will help
you too.

THE BIG DISCOVERIES THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING FOR ME

When I used to try to fix the problems my anxiety was causing me, I
used to try to fix the PROBLEM itself. Sounds like a good idea, right?


So I’d look for ways to stop panic attacks. I’d look for ways to
stop the general anxiety I felt ALL the time. I’d look for ways to
overcome my fear of leaving the house. And so on.

But I soon realised that when you solve problems that way, you’re
not really SOLVING them.

You’re just dealing with then, getting through them. And the next
time you’re faced with the same situation, the problem will be back,
as big and bad as ever.

The HUGE discovery I made was that trying to solve my anxiety
problems in the moment, as they were happening, would never work the
way I needed it to.

And that’s because there were some much BIGGER problems, HUGE
deep-rooted ones, that were responsible for everything else that was
going wrong. I knew that fixing those HUGE DEEP-ROOTED problems was
the only way to stop the anxiety that was destroying my life.

So, what are these HUGE and DEEP-ROOTED problems? Well, I identified
3 of them

1. Anxiety Is An Addiction

Think about the way people treat you if they know about your
problems with anxiety. This might be your doctor, your family, your
friends. In almost ALL cases, they’ll treat you in one of two ways.

One, they’ll treat you like you have an ILLNESS that needs to be
“cured” or “treated” in some way, either with medicine or
therapy.

Two, they’ll treat you like there’s NOTHING wrong with you, and
that all your problems are “in your head” and that you should just
“snap out of it.”

People treat you like this so often that you even start doing it to
yourself, and eventually it’s all you know and all you believe (even
though it’s completely false).

I did this for years, switching between thinking I needed medicine
or therapy to “fix” me, and then thinking that maybe I had nothing
wrong with me at all and that all my problems were caused by ME.

Then I read a book on addiction, completely by coincidence, and I
made one of the BIGGEST discoveries I’ve ever made about anxiety
disorders. The discovery was this:

ANXIETY DISORDERS AND PANIC ATTACKS ARE AN ADDICTION YOU HAVE TO
BREAK, NOT AN ILLNESS YOU HAVE TO CURE.

The moment I realised this, so much became crystal clear to me. My
OCD, my agoraphobia, my health anxiety, my social anxiety, my panic
attacksAll of them had developed, progressed, and ruined my life in
exactly the way that ADDICTIONS do.

So I started studying addictions in a big way, and do you know what
I found out? That if you treat your anxiety like an addiction, and you
use similar methods that addicts use to recover, you can literally
wipe out multiple anxiety disorders all at once!

2. Fear Of Recovery

Have you ever tried to imagine what your life would be like if you
had no anxiety, no panic, no fear, no worrying? It seems like a good
thing to do, right? I always thought I was inspiring myself towards
recovery by thinking of a future version of myself that was fully
recovered and free from anxiety and fear.

But all the while I was actually causing even MORE damage to myself
and my anxiety-related problems.

What I didn’t realise back then is that to a person with huge
amounts of anxiety and fear, imagining the future in ANY way just
causes more anxiety and fear and prevents you making any progress.

Think about it.

If you imagine a future where you still have all your anxiety and
fear, you’ll lose all hope and think that your life is ALWAYS going
to be that way.

But it’s JUST as damaging to think of a future where you have no
anxiety and no fear. Why? Because you’ll start to get excited
thinking about all the things you’ll be able to do that your anxiety
and fear stops you from doing right now.

The trouble is, just THINKING about the things you’ll be able to
do if your anxiety is gone gets you full of fear and anxiety, because
in the place you’re in right now you CAN’T do those things.

Those things terrify you, and any thoughts about them will
immediately make your anxiety and fear shoot up.

So basically, it comes down to this: when you have any form of
anxiety disorder, you automatically have a HUGE fear of recovery. You
might be aware of it, or it might just lie there under the surface
without you knowing it, destroying all your efforts to get better.

Whether you know about it or not though, it’s there, and it’s
one of the BIG reasons progress is so hard to make.

The good news is that there are two simple steps to getting rid of
this problem instantly and completely. The first step is to become
aware of it, and now you are, so you’re already much closer to
overcoming this problem.

The second step to overcoming your fear of recovery is to make some
very small and simple changes to the way you think, especially about
your future. These changes can be made in seconds when you know how.

3. Anxiety Fear Isn't Real

Since you suffer with extreme anxiety, just like I did, you’re
probably going nuts right now when you hear me say that the fear you
experience every day isn’t real!

Well, I’m gonna say it anyway.

THE FEAR YOU EXPERIENCE EVERY DAY BECAUSE OF YOUR ANXIETY ISN’T
REAL. IT’S COMPLETELY IMAGINARY.

One of the worst parts about the 17 years I lived with all my
anxiety disorders was the fear. The constant fear over EVERYTHING. The
fear of leaving the house, the fear of having a panic attack, the fear
of going to sleep, the fear of talking to people, the fear that I’d
never live a normal life again.

The fear over EVERYTHING.

Obviously it’s not possible to ever find ways past anxiety when
you’re full of that kind of fear all day every day.

But the day I found out that my fear was imaginary, and really
didn’t exist anywhere (not even in my head!), everything changed,
and from that moment on I’ve never EVER felt any fear about my
anxiety.

The thing that inspired this discovery was a book called “The Gift
of Fear” by Gavin DeBecker. It’s actually not even a book about
anxiety or panic. It’s about violence and danger and how to avoid it
and stay safe.

But the author has such an amazing understanding of what fear is and
what causes it that it started sparking light bulbs on in all areas of
my mind.

Suddenly I began to link all that this man was teaching me about
fear to my problems with anxiety, and almost instantly the fear that
I’d been living with for 17 years was shut off like a light switch.

As soon as you learn the true nature of fear, what it is, what
causes it, and how it feeds your anxiety, you’ll find that your own
fears STOP as completely and as suddenly as my own did.

WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN TO ME?

You might be wondering why you should be listening to me. I’m
pretty sure I’m saying stuff that makes sense to you, stuff that you
know in your heart is true. But really, why should you be listening to
me?

BECAUSE 3 YEARS AGO I WAS WHERE YOU ARE NOW. AND NOW I’M NOT.

If you’re here then your goal is to get to where I am right now:
to a life with no fear, no anxiety, no panic attacks - just a normal

BUT THEN THERE WAS A PROBLEM

Thousands of people watched my videos on how to stop anxiety and
panic attacks. And what I was teaching was WORKING for everyone who
