I guess my only complaint with scrapbooking is that if you don't
know someone who is excellent at it, you really have no other way to
begin.
There is some information floating around, and a few dated (read:
before my Grandma was born) books that you could check out from your
local library, but nothing great.
Being a new scrapbooker, I wanted something current. Something that
could utilize both online, and offline scrapbooking techniques for
beginners and seasoned professionals alike.
So you know what they say, if the information doesn't exist, you get
to write the book, and that's exactly what I did! I wrote the book on
modern scrapbook design, and now I want to offer up all of my
knowledge on the subject to other beginners who may be overwhelmed,
and frustrated, at the lack of current scrapbooking information.

One of the biggest problems that I was running into was the lack of
CURRENT information. There is plenty of information out there, but the
fact remains, it's all extremely dated.
It's really disheartening when you are trying to learn how to create
wonderful scrapbooks online, when all of the information you are
dealing with discusses film cameras, polaroids, and arts & crafts
stores. What about the current generation of scrapbookers who yearns
for another option? What about us digital junkies who want to know the
basics of offloading our digital cameras into an album, and creating a
lovely scrapbook out of them?
That's why I wrote this guide!
Let's face facts... scrapbooking was something that up until
recently, was only discussed by the same people that were discussing
hip replacements, bridge, and knitting. That just wasn't something I
thought I would enjoy... Until I went to a local craft show. For the
first time since I was a child, I saw a scrapbook that someone had
created out of odds and ends from around the house, and of course,
some lovely family photos.
I was hooked!
This lovely woman in her early 20's had ignited a fire in me that
just couldn't be extinguished. That is, until I got home and tried to
research this craft online.
I found a ton of websites that discussed scrapbooking. Some were
good, most were terrible, and almost all of them were dealing with old
methods that are nearly obsolete nowadays. People, we use digital
photos now, not polaroids! Let's move this craft into the 21st century
so that others can learn, and enjoy making and teaching others how to
make, scrapbooks.
Fast forward a few years, and I'm still making scrapbooks, only this
time, I do it in my own shop, and other people pay me for my trouble!
