e - consulting

The e-consulting service is specifically for the SME (Small to Medium Enterprise). An SME is typically a business with a staff compliment of between 1 and 500 employees and is usually entrepreneurial of nature. These Entrepreneurs is specialists at what they do and usually very good at producing their product or service. 90% of the time when an entrepreneur run into difficulties it has nothing to do with their product or service, but with the business model they employ on a day to day basis. Entrepreneurs do not have the benefit of expensive business managers with MBA`s or chartered accountants to keep an eye on the balance necessary to achieve maximum profitability.

This balance is critical in any business and has caused the demise of many businesses with excellent products or services that did not keep an eye on the "recipe" employed to produce and sell their product or service.

Business Tigers now give the entrepreneur that capability through the e-consulting service at a cost of only R480.00 per month:

Your initial charge will be R480.00. You will then be charged R480.00 per month for the next 11 months or untill you cancel your subscription at any time (no contract binding you to any fixed period). You can then download the Analysis Template (Excell) that you must complete every month and send it to us for analysis (see below) in the same month you send it to us.. As easy as that.

The e-consulting service consist of two parts:

Monthly Business Fitness Report (BFR).

The BFR is a investigation into the business model employed by the company and a monthly analysis to ensure that the model is stable and still relevant.

Utilising ratio analysis we track the companies performance on a month to month basis and then benchmark it against similar companies in your industry.

2. Improving your Business

After Anylising your business certain things are going to come up that needs improvement or attention.

 

We have developed Templates for most of these issues were the entrepreneur then contact the business consultant via e-mail and is based on showing the SME how to do something (Strategy, HR, Operations, Budgeting, Business Plans, Sales and Marketing etc.) rather than doing it for them as would usually be the case. The SME will be supplied with templates and the SME will complete the task based on the template. The template will then follow a back and forth advisory path between the consultant and the SME until it is professionally completed. This has two results: firstly the SME learn how to do it themselves and secondly the task is completed to the highest professional standard.

 A quick example of what can be done:

 

Modelling the impacts of the Financial Crisis  

 

In the current economic climate, businesses are likely to encounter conditions which will threaten the health and viability of operations. Exposure to such conditions will probably cause a decrease in the demand for products and services and cause an increase in operating costs. As a response, decision makers could place a renewed emphasis on lean management principles and undertake cost cutting measures (ie. seeking staff redundancies) . To further protect the bottom line, decision makers may also seek to extend supply terms (creditor days) in anticipation of higher inventory days and slower collection of receivables.

In this example, the impact of the current economic climate is modelled. We are able to model the likely impacts of changes to key business drivers and generate a view of forecast financial performance.

We will assume the following adverse impacts will affect performance:

Adverse Factors 

 

 

Prices  will be forced down 

-4 % 

Volumes of sales  will decrease 

-6 % 

Cost of Sales  will increase 

+3 % 

Debtors  will pay slower 

+15 Days 

Inventory  will be held longer 

+20 Days 





We will then recommend that management undertake the following mitigating steps in response:

Mitigating Factors 

 

 

Creditors  will be paid later 

+10 days 

Staff  will be retrenched 

-10 % 

Overheads  will be cut 

-5 % 

Funding  costs will decrease 

-4 % 








We are then able to model the impact of these assumptions on key performance indicators (see table below).




In this example, we clearly see the impact of the adverse factors on performance, while also considering the potential effect of efforts undertaken to mitigate these adverse factors.

Modelling allows management to plan for reduced demand and rising costs and to predict the impact on profitability and cash flow. Importantly in this modelling scenario we are measuring the impact on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as EBIT, Gross Profit %, Profitability % (income statement), while also considering the impact on cash flow and funding (balance sheet).

Accurate and timely modelling is a powerful tool for decision makers and businesses in any economic climate.
