“Learn How To Make A Difference In The Lives Of Your Students And Inspire Them To Do Their Best For The Rest Of Their Lives With Teacher Tested Techniques You Can Use Immediately In Your Classroom—Guaranteed—or Your Money Back!"

Dear Fellow Teacher,

I know exactly what you’re going through...
You love to learn. You love to teach. You love children. You want to make a difference in the lives of young people-your students. You want them to love learning, to become life-long learners, to enjoy school and make a difference in society.
I used to dread going to school in the morning to teach. I would have a big knot in the pit of my stomach just thinking about my class.

Remember when you graduated from teachers’ college…

You had all that energy, enthusiasm and expertise to make a difference, especially with disadvantaged students who struggle to get through each and every day? You looked forward to teaching any and all students in your class. You spent an incredible amount of time getting your classroom set up during the summer.

It was a warm, welcoming and wonderful classroom—one of the best classrooms in the entire school. You were nervous that first day, not knowing what to expect. Then you met your students. They sat in their desks, alert, attentive and anxious to be taught by you. The first day was an exhausting but an exhilarating, exciting experience. You couldn’t wait to get back to school and teach them some more.

Then, it happened…

It may have been in the first week, or in the first month or in the first term, but it happened.

Your students aren’t attentive any more. They’re off task. They’re defiant. The hours and hours you’ve spent on those picture perfect lesson plans seem to go out the window. Your students are becoming more and more defiant. You get more and more frustrated with them, lose your cool more often and go home empty, exhausted and emotionally upset.

In spite of all these problems and challenges, you’re still passionate about teaching. You still love to learn. You still love to teach. You still love children.

But, you’re running on empty, especially with those students who defy you more and more often, who seem to have taken over your class, who don’t seem to care anymore. You don’t know what to do. You don’t want to confess to other teachers that you’re experiencing problems with your class. That would be a sign of weakness. You don’t want to confess to your principal that you’re experiencing problems. That might mean not getting rehired or worse—that you weren’t meant to be a teacher.

You don’t want to talk to any parents, because word would quickly get out that you can’t control your class, that you’re an ineffective, incapable and worse, an incompetent teacher. The school year has barely started and you’re already counting the days, hours and minutes to the end of the term.

You keep hoping each day will be better, but instead it gets worse. You start thinking about getting out of teaching, quitting and changing careers. You’re fed up, frustrated and fearful. You want the joy, the respect and the fulfillment from a rewarding teaching career, but now, you just don’t know what to do.

How do I know all this?

To put it very simply, I know exactly what you’re going through in a very personal way because I’ve been there myself. In fact, I’m still there. Teaching is tough, time-consuming and a trial by fire. No one really understands what it’s like to teach all by yourself, all alone, isolated from adults in front of a group of disinterested, disruptive and defiant students, than another teacher.

I’ve seen a lot, experienced a lot and succeeded a lot.

Here’s Why You Want This:

This eBook teaching guide is written by an actual practicing full time classroom teacher that contains the unique information you need to become a teaching success. My classroom tested teacher techniques will work for you or your money back, guaranteed. Now, I know you’re probably skeptical. That’s normal and heathy. Let me give you three excellent reasons I can back up what I claim:

3 Reasons To Believe What I Say

If you’re like me, as a classroom teacher it’s tough to toot your own horn and talk about your accomplishments! I find it hard to do, but over my 25 years of teaching, I’ve made a difference in the lives of thousands of students K-University, parents and teachers through my teaching in the classroom, online courses, workshops, speeches, articles, columns and newsletters.

I am a successful author, having two of my books published as bestsellers. The foreword to my second book The Busy Educator’s Guide To The World Wide Web 2ND Edition was written by Harry K. Wong, who with his wife Rosemary, are the authors of The First Days of School, which has sold over 2 million copies. Harry and Rosemary have given me a credit in their latest book as an acknowledged expert. They even put a photo of me and my children on their front cover!

“You have touched the lives of every child and teacher at our school and that you will long be remembered and appreciated.”

Marjan, I do not recall when I actually joined your email listings, but I have always looked forward to it coming so that I could use your help to enhance my students' learning, creativity, and enjoyment of school. I have given many of my colleagues, parents, and even students your web site, only to hear complete excitement and satisfaction!!

Now, last August, 2006, took on a different dimension. Distraught and heartbroken at having been to the "what was once my school" after the wrath of Hurricane Katrina, I came home only to find your newest Busy Educator newsletter awaiting me. My first impulse was to email you and just let you know that we, simply stating it, needed help here in Long Beach, Mississippi.

You were so comforting, kind, supporting, and requested permission to send my email out to your 30,000 readers!!

Marjan, that was a complete turning point for those of us at Harper McCaughan Elementary. The overwhelming response from schools, teachers, and individuals was unbelievable as thousands upon thousands of materials and financial donations flowed in...and still do, I might add!

Just know that you have touched the lives of every child and teacher at our school and that you will long be remembered and appreciated. From disaster comes good, Marjan, and you created that for us. I will always consider YOU a personal friend and hope to meet you in person one day.

You are more than an educator; you are a caring, loving individual. My life is better by having our lives cross paths.

Thank you, Marjan, for everything!!

Sincerely,

Anne Ladner

“We only had Mr Glavac for one year, but what he gave us

will last a lifetime.”

I was probably the most challenging student of Mr. Glavac's "most challenging class of his career".  Coming into his class in grade six, in  a brand new school in a low income neighbourhood, I carried a lot with me.  Like a lot of the 30+ students in that crammed portable, I came from a broken home, with a low income single mother stressed from raising 2 kids as a labourer in a local factory that laid her off more than gave her work.

I had already been introduced to drugs and alcohol via the local dealers who happened to be my next door neighbours. In twelve years of living,  I had seen enough violence in my house, friends' houses and my neighbourhood,  to turn any young impressionable mind into a savage.  Most teachers would have put in for a transfer within the first week,  but Mr. G took our class on head first.

Kids coming to school everyday dealing with the above mentioned, plus some of them I imagine were hungry, and had illnesses, didn't.... no... couldn't be expected to -have much of an appetite for learning.  Mr. Glavac recognized this and somehow came to see that the way to make us learn was to distract us from what was going on around us. He needed to find something that would get us so excited about doing it and what the end result could be, that we would forget what was going on around us, even if it was just from 9am - 3:30 p.m.

The way to do this was technology.  Most, if not all of us did not have a computer, and because the funding was so poor at our previous schools barely any one knew how to turn one on , let alone type essays and send them electronically over this thing called the World Wide Web.

Well , to put it frankly, it worked!

He did have a few challenges still however.  Violent acts of rage, and disrupting outbursts from me and some of the students who followed my still unfound leadership.

Teaching home row for keyboarding to the kids who suffered from ADD,
and ADHD must have been hard also.  When I look back, I can see how from month to month, we were becoming less and less interested in acting out in class, and more focused on our new found task at hand; to research and type stories and then put them together in an electronic newspaper and send it to schools around the world.

WOW!  Most of us had never left our neighbourhood, and now were going to be communicating with other kids from New Zealand ! And it seemed to snow ball from there.  Mr G sent out the word of what we were doing and all of a sudden we were being interviewed by CFPL News (our local network) TVO, Global television, The London Free Press, and The Toronto Star .  We were shown that no matter what was going on around us, if we put our minds to something, we can do what ever we want.

We only had Mr Glavac for one year, but what he gave us will last a lifetime.

Over the next decade, there were the drug dealing, the rash of  stabbings, shootings, murders, friends killing each other, committing suicide, overdosing  and going to prison.  All of which seemed as though they were an all too regular occurrence.

Then there were my own stints with the law and institutions, and extremely violent behavior, I still knew that if I put my mind to something, I could do whatever I want.

I made the honors roll in grade nine, got a full scholarship for Fanshawe College's Tool & Die program,  own my own town house and have a beautiful 21 month old daughter.  I work a very large auto parts producer and am saving money to go to the University of Western Ontario next year for their economics program as I eventually want to be a lawyer I think?

I know that I want to make a difference somehow.  It's 5:21 p.m on Tuesday night, and I have tears running down my face. I told Mr. G that I would have this ready for him by Wednesday and I will not go back on my word with the man I learned so much from and who showed me how to be a great leader.  You see, at 7:00 p.m  I have to be at my old but at one time, one of my best friend's visitation.  He was found dead over the weekend.  He choked to death on his own vomit from alcohol or drugs .  But, no matter what goes on around you, if you put your mind to it, you can do anything.

And through it all, no matter what i did in his class, Mr. G never gave up on me and that in turn, taught me to never give up on myself.

Sincerely,
Justin Burggraeve

"How To Make A Difference: Inspiring Students To Do Their Best Saved My Mind "

"How to make a Difference: Inspiring Students to Do their Best" saved my mind. I was at the point in my teaching career where I was having self-doubt whether I was making a difference in my students. Reading the book and using some of the useful suggestions reinforced my decision to become a teacher. Thank you.

"I felt inspired and empowered by your ebook."

After teaching for 27 years it is both inspiring and comforting to learn that you can teach "old dogs new tricks". Sometimes it helps to look beyond the problems that you have in your classroom and look at what you are doing yourself and how what you do may not help change behaviour but also hinder any change. I felt inspired and empowered by your ebook. Parts of it affirmed what I held true about kids and other parts empowered me to make change even with my Kindergarteners.

"I Am More Positive On My Outlook"

What a difference your book made Marjan! I teach junior school children (5-8 year olds) in Christchurch, New Zealand. I have the question in "How am I going to make a difference today?" above my desk in my classroom. I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses like never before in my 13 year teaching career - all thanks to you! My children LOVE the Gotcha Awards. The bucket was full on Friday. I am using them to reinforce their homework routines for Reading. It is working a treat! I am working hard every day to be the best I can be (our school motto) and I am more positive on my outlook. Thank you for your inspiring book :-)

                              "I have not been disappointed."

This is my first year teaching in a public school (fourth grade), and I was ready and willing to accept help wherever I could find it. When I received your e-mail on "How to Make a Difference," I immediately sent in my info and purchased the e-book.

I have not been disappointed.

One of the things I tried immediately was in assigning jobs to my students. I am very much a "do-it-myselfer," and never really considered allowing the students to help out. I changed my mind very quickly after reading your piece on "Building Trust and Respect Through Responsibility." I couldn't believe how willing my students were to help! They were excited from the start to know that they were going to be "Mrs. Luebke's Helpers," and they couldn't wait to begin. At first it seemed a bit difficult to find jobs for the students to do. After a while, no problem existed. Everyone was glad to help out, and no job was too menial.

The most positive outcome came from my "hyperactive" student. Although I was able to keep him under control even when he did not have his medication (when mom couldn't afford it), he was still quite a handful at times. When it came time for his turn at his job, things began to change. No one could keep his position if he/she had a discipline problem in class. I made this standard clear from the very beginning. My young man enjoyed being a helper that I could see the difference in him from the onset. Things are not perfect for him, but they are much better. Discipline was not a huge problem in my class before this, but allowing the students to help me in class certainly has made controlling my students easier.

I know now that I will have jobs available for my class from now on, and I am grateful to you for the help your e-book has given me this year. It is something that I have recommended to my colleagues, both novice and experienced, and will continue to use these ideas throughout my teaching career.

"Work is being completed, correctly and neatly

and they are coming prepared to class."

I have a very difficult behaviour class that would not complete their work or bring needed materials / homework to class. By placing the responsibility on them by asking them, "How do you plan to make sure that it's here tomorrow?" and involving the class in designing their own marking schemes has had a remarkable change on the majority of the class. Work is being completed, correctly and neatly and they are coming prepared to class. It has been a long struggle and a great adventure to get them this far and it will be great to see them go farther.
