ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Duane Overturf began his dog training career at the age of 15 when
he trained his dog, Frosty, a Samoyed he got for his birthday. At high
school, he worked at a local kennel caring for and training champion
show dogs. Pretty soon Duane was training puppies sold to local
families. After high school Duane trained dogs as a side business.
While working at a local pet store Duane taught group classes private
lessons until it became apparent that he should go full time training
dogs.

Since he began his career, more than 6,000 dogs and families have
benefitted from Duane's expertise. Today, he focuses on helping
families and their dogs get along better. He works with all types of
dog breeds and mixes and all ages from 6 weeks up. He has built a
solid reputation in his local area with numerous veterinarians and
retail pet supply stores recommending him for many years with positive
feedback. He regularly receives clients that have been through
training elsewhere and were not happy with the results.

Duane also works with several other local dog trainers as a
consultant when they need help with difficult dogs. Duane's specialty
is working with problem and difficult dogs. He has extensive
experience working with timid, abused and aggressive dogs as well as
every day family dogs too. He uses a combination of traditional and
modern methods of training to help difficult, dominant or aggressive
dogs as well as shy, fearful or abused dogs become happy, confident,
safe and responsive family members. He believes that most training
tools have a time and a place where their application is useful and
that each dog and persons relationship has it's own nuances and that
sometimes changing how the person behaves with their dog will produce
more results than trying to change the dog.

Duane is a professional member of, and has written articles for, the
International Association of Canine Professionals. He is also a member
of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and a member of the Los Angeles
Better Business Bureau. He presently owns Your Best Companion
Professional Dog Training and Behavior and lives with his wife,
Catherine, and his daughter, Lindsay, in Northridge, CA along with
their two dogs Amber and Shilo.

I TRAINED MY DOG & HE STILL WON'T LISTEN!

WHAT DO I DO NOW?

By Duane Overturf

If your goal is to have your dog respond reliably everytime you
command them and for them to always behave responsibly regardless of
where you take them then this is the book for you. There are two parts
to training a dog. First, you teach them the meaning of the words you
want them to respond to. In other words, you teach your dog that "sit"
means put your butt on the ground. Most dogs easily learn what words
mean regardless of the method used to teach it. But sadly, most
training classes begin and end with only this information and many
people are left with a dog that knows exactly what they are being
asked to do, but will not listen much of time. I Trained My Dog & He
Still Won't Listen! What Do I Do Now? is about the second aspect of
training where you learn how to get your dog to respond no matter what
is happening around them and to behave responsibly when not on
command. You could call it rearranging their agenda or priorities so
that you are always at the top of the list.
