Hi, I'm JOHN DAVENPORT, and I was an emotional eater.

I grew up in a small town and had a normal and happy childhood.
However, from my earliest memory and all through my teenage years, I
had always been overweight.

At the time, it seemed like something which I could never change. I
was like that from birth.

At first, it didn't really bother me, but as I grew up and started
noticing girls, the desire to change my life and my body became
stronger and stronger. I used to stay up at nights dreaming of being
thin and fit. I wanted it so much, but it just seemed like my body and
mind had other ideas.

You see, I always had a love-hate relationship with food. I loved
all kinds of fattening food and turned away from what was healthy for
me. Plus, I was a fast eater. Not a nice combination. When most kids
my age were through their first serving of pasta, I’d be eyeing my
third! The trend continued and I’d often find myself munching away
at one thing or the other. Didn’t matter whether I was alone, had
company, was watching TV, curled up with a favorite book – or
sometimes, just plain bored.

DIDN'T YOU TRY ANY DIETS, JOHN?

Of course, I tried to lose weight a couple of times. I read about a
number of diets and attempted a couple. Eat heavy breakfast, eat no
breakfast, high protein-low fat, high fat-low protein, all-carb,
no-carb, all-meat, all-liquid, all-fruit - there were so many diets
out there; some made sense, others didn’t. Every time I tried
something new, I’d feel so excited. I thought this would finally be
‘it’! Predictably, I would lose some weight, only to gain it
back_with interest_. I could tell it was all going wrongll. But I just
did not know how to put an end to it.

All the while, my feeling of inadequacy was crippling me socially.
When you get to a point where you are noticeably larger, you begin to
isolate yourself. It’s a kind of defense mechanism because you’re
sure that people are snickering behind your more-than-generous
backside.

You distance yourself from any activity that exposes flab; which
leaves out swimming, sexy beachwear and skinny-dips! You don’t want
to meet with old friends because their half-serious ribbing hurts you.
Romance is a dud because you’re often left holding wineglasses while
your friends meet the beautiful ladies! Slowly, you find yourself
missing out on all the good things in life. It’s just you and the
relentless pain of being overweight.

How did I get that way? At that time, I really didn’t know. I
couldn’t figure out why I had this uncontrollable frenzy for eating.
Quite often, I did not even realize how much I was eating. I felt like
the victim of an unknown disease. I was angry, afraid, ashamed, hurt
and totally helpless. My body was betraying me and my mind was
punishing me. Where could I turn?

HOW I BEGAN TO CHANGE MY LIFE...

Thankfully, I’d reached a point in my life when I decided that
enough was enough. I’d had it with living life super-sized. My life
was pitifully empty. I had become a far shadow of the fun-loving,
bright guy I once was. This was not the kind of life I’d dreamed of
or worked hard for. Something inside me warned me that I had better
apply the brakes, hard and _now_!

So I became consumed with the idea of change! I was determined to
overcome my emotional eating problems once and for all. I became
totally obsessed with finding a solution. I read, researched, watched
videos, talked to dieticians and met with several people who had
managed to lose weight and keep it off long-term. The data I gathered
was truly awesome.

Fortunately, I was and am a very logical person. That is probably
why, when I stumbled across the ROOT CAUSE OF MY PROBLEM, something
clicked. The more I read, the better I understood myself. I began to
see how a repeated pattern was controlling the way I was eating, that
MY EMOTIONS WERE LEADING ME TO EAT TOO MUCH OF THE WRONG THINGS TOO
FAST AND TOO OFTEN. Worse, I was just standing by, allowing it to
happen! For all my life, I had been a pawn; now, I wanted to become
the hand that moved the pawn!

And, I did it! Through a combination of proper diet and exercise, I
lost every bit of the extra weight I had been carrying around since my
childhood. But what really did the trick was that I understood the
mechanics of healthy eating and took serious steps to rectify my
eating habits. At first, I had to take baby steps, but I soon gained
confidence.

I had found the SOLUTION TO EMOTIONAL EATING. And the results were

Finally, I was able to undo the damage years of careless eating had
wrought on my body. From being an overweight teenager who couldn’t
run half a mile if my life depended on it, I reached a stage where I

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO YOU?

As a person who suffers from emotional eating, you must be wondering
why is this happening to you and why you can't shake it off. The truth
is that the society we live in actually pushes you into becoming an
emotional eater.

The levels of stress in the modern society are without parallel in
human history. Just think of the emotional strain of school, work,

DIETS

LOW CARB DIETS

These diets are terrible for you because they're way too strict. Our
body relishes carbs. It longs for them. If you deprive the body of too
much carbs it will go into "crave mode". It will start "screaming for
carbs". In the end, you will not be able to stand it. You will not
only stop the diet by eating carbs, you'll stuff yourself silly.

LOW FAT DIETS

Low fat diets are just as bad for you. They not only make you avoid
all fats (even the good ones which your body needs), they try to
either sell you low-fat replacements or send you to the supermarket to
buy unhealthy chemical-filled replacements. Again, you should reduce
the amount of fat that you eat in order to lose weight, but you will
not put an end to your emotional dependency on food by depriving your
body.

STARVATION DIETS

Don't get me started on these diets. While going on a short term
detox diet isn't unheard of, most of these diets are just plain
dangerous physically, and horrible psychologically. The way to develop
a healthy relationship with food is not to stop eating it entirely.
Does starving sound healthy to you? I think not.

CELEBRITY DIETS

Every once in a while we see a new diet flaunting a celebrity as its
presentor, testifying that he or she have lost a bunch of pounds with
some new concoction or gimmick. C'mon. All those ultra-strict diets
aren't made for regular people who don't have a one-on-one trainer
around the clock and a dietician on standby. If you go on one of these
diets you're apt to go crazy with cravings.

All these diets haven't done much good to our society. Otherwise,
why are people today fatter than ever? Why is 67% of the American
population overweight, not to mention the British or Australian
population.

WHY DO 95% OF DIETS FAIL?

Yes. It's true. Those are the statistics. Around 95% of diets fail.
Do you really think that the reason for that is that we don't know how
to eat healthy or workout right? C'mon, you know better than that.

The truth is that most diets aren't built to deal with the root
