HOW I LOST 90 POUNDS IN 6 MONTHS is a miraculous journey I had

_"how long should you stay on the Atkins diet"_ or _"what is the cost
of the Jenny Craig diet"_ because I was always ready to "get off" of
any diet so I could resume my OVEREATING. I didn't realize I needed a
LIFESTYLE CHANGE.

Not only have I lost the 90 pounds, but I have kept it off for the
last 10 years! I'll tell you how I lost 90 pounds in 6 months, but
first, a little about MY BACKGROUND.

My Background
I am the third oldest of 9 children - a total of 5 girls and 4 boys.
We didn't have much money back then and so I developed a scarcity
mentality around food. Whenever someone offered me food, even if I
wasn't hungry, I would accept it and eat it.

I've always had a SWEET TOOTH. I love Drakes Cakes, Hostess, pies,
cookies, ice cream - you name it, if it was sweet, I loved it. Not
only did I love sweets, I loved salty foods too. HECK, I LOVE FOOD -
PERIOD. With that track record, it's amazing how I lost 90 pounds in 6
months!

I Could Not Stop Eating
I realized early on that the way I ate was not normal. Meaning, not
only was I a sneak eater, but I had a total inability to delay
enjoyment around food. Hence, I would eat my lunch on the school bus
on the way to school in the mornings. This of course, left me no other
choice but to steal the other children's snacks from their lunch boxes
at recess time!

So every day when the rest of the class went to RECESS, I always
back tracked and rummaged through every lunch box, wolfing down all of
the tasty delights that awaited me. SHAME, FEAR, GUILT and REMORSE
were my constant companions, but I COULD NOT STOP EATING.

Everyone knew I was the class thief and did their best to hide their
lunch boxes from me - but I prevailed! NO LUNCH BOX WENT UNTAPPED. I
knew which kids brought the best snacks from home and therefore, which
lunch boxes to raid during recess when all of the other children were
out on the playground. How I lost 90 pounds in six months is beyond
me, given my track record. Anyway, moving right along...

I Felt Unattractive And Hated Myself
Needless to say, I was a FAT KID who later grew up to be a FAT
ADULT. As an adult, I SMOKED 2.5 packs of cigarettes per day. When I
decided to quit smoking on August 21, 1994, I BALLOONED FROM 140
POUNDS TO 170 POUNDS - almost overnight. I thought, _"No problem, I'll
take it off in no time."_ But my weight scale had a different agenda!

It kept creeping up, 175, 180, 185, 190... At 5'3 inches, I topped
the scales at 213 pounds. After that, I simply stopped getting on the
scale. IT WAS TOO PAINFUL. Besides, ignorance and denial were bliss.

When I went to the department store to buy a blouse, I thought to
myself, _"Well Shalisha, you did gain weight, so you probably wear a
size big."_ The size big did not fit. So, I thought _"Ok Shalisha,
then you probably wear a size Extra big."_ To my dismay, the size
EXTRA BIG DID NOT FIT. I got nervous. I hadn't been on the scale in
months.

I could lie to myself about what the scale told me, but clothes
never lie. I conceded that I had to start buying my clothes from Lane
Bryant and Ashley Stuart (both very nice stores, but made for fat
folks). My blouses were size 3X and my pants were between a size 18
and 22. There I was, 28 years-old looking and feeling like a 60
year-old! _I FELT SO UNATTRACTIVE AND HATED MYSELF_.

I Was Oblivious To It All!
I tried _WEIGHT WATCHERS_ - a terrific food plan by the way! Back
then, Weight Watchers had the Point System. The problem was, my eating
progressed to such where I would buy mass amounts of their Smart Ones
Desserts - at 2 points each - and then proceeded to eat every single
box bought. I began "borrowing" points into the next week!

My BINGES consisted of furious late night raids of my refrigerator,
midnight runs to IHOP, and driving to deserted parking lots for more
secret binge eating. Hell, once I even pulled over to the curb in
front of a STOP sign to eat my McDonald's Egg McMuffin sandwich as the
drivers behind me furiously honked their horns and gave me the finger!
I was OBLIVIOUS TO IT ALL! I was in food heaven! There were plenty
more insane episodes, but I won't go there.

I Was A Compulsive Overeater
Finally, I ran into an OLD FRIEND whom I hadn't seen in years. SHE
WAS THIN! I asked her how she did it. She told me of this free
program. When I went to this program, everyone in the room was thin
and radiant. _I THOUGHT \"WOW.\"_ I wanted what they had.

So I asked them what they did. They told me that I was a compulsive
overeater and that I was ADDICTED to SUGAR and REFINED CARBOHYDRATES.
You don't say? You mean there was a reason for my utter madness?

I Could Eat A Lot And Still Lose Weight!
Well, I thought, _\"WHAT DO YOU EAT?\"_ I couldn't imagine eating
anything else except refined carbohydrates and sugar. I took a look at
their FOOD PLAN. The food plan was extremely strict. I was to weigh
and measure my food every single day without exception. I could only
eat THREE MEALS A DAY and I had to ABSTAIN from SUGAR and REFINED

lost 16 pounds. The second month I lost 12 pounds. The third month I

Eat What You Want
Remember, you get to PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO EAT. For
example, let's say I sent you a menu that had lamb on it or fish and
you didn't like either of those things. You wouldn't need to call me

look on the list under the PROTEIN SECTION, and substitute it for
something you like better!

The Food Plan

LUNCH: 2 oz Bacon and 2 oz Salmon
1 Cup Broccoli (or any vegetable you like from the list)
1 Cup Salad (with any and all vegetables you like from the list)
1Tbl. Dressing or Butter or Oil (any kind you like)

DINNER: 4 oz Lean Turkey (or any protein you like from the list)
1 Cup of Green Beans (or any vegetable you like from the list)
2 Cups Salad (any kind of vegetables you like)
3 Tbl. Dressing, Oil, Fat
2 oz of Tomato Sauce

It's Very Simple
Now, on the surface this looks tough, but IT IS VERY SIMPLE. The
trick is to buy things that are PRE-CUT and PRE-WASHED, which is what
I do.

I love purchasing cooked rotisserie chicken because a) it's already
cooked, b) I can use it for several meals during the week and 3)
chicken is so versatile, I can make many tasty meals from that one
bird.

So your grocery list would look something like this:

GROCERY LIST

1 8oz Package of Cheese (any kind) it can be low-fat, full-fat, or
fat-free
1 Package of Bacon (it can be turkey bacon, pork bacon or beef
bacon)
1 Can of Salmon or pound of Fresh Salmon
1 Bag of Dole Cole Slaw or Pre-washed Salad Greens
1 Bag of Shredded Cabbage
1 Bag of Pre-cut and Pre-washed Broccoli
1 Pint of Grape tomatoes
1 big Cucumber
1 Red Onion
1 Bottle of Olive Oil or Butter
1 Bottle of your favorite Fat Free Dressing or Full Fat Dressing
1 Jar of Dijon Mustard
1 Jar of Italian Seasoning or Oregano
1 Jar of Tomato Sauce (any flavor)
Turkey (fresh) or Cooked (with the skin)
Rotisserie Chicken (with the skin)
Fat-Free Yogurt (any flavor)
Various Fruit (enough to last you for the week including your
snacks)

Don't Worry About Counting Calories!
Do you see how simple eating HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS can be? Depending
on what proteins you want to eat, those are the ones you buy. The
proteins don't necessarily have to be the ones I put on the menu. You
have a grocery list that will last you for the whole week!

You can MIX AND MATCH from that grocery list if you choose! The only
thing you may have to restock up on are the veggies and salad. If you
want to eat leaner that day you would add to your grocery list -
Non-fat yogurt, Low fat cottage cheese, fish of any kind. I tend to
like low-fat cheese and cantaloupe in the morning for my breakfast
with my coffee.

Don't worry about counting calories! As long as you weigh and
measure your food and follow the instructions on this sheet, YOU WILL
DEFINITELY LOSE WEIGHT.

It's Pretty Much Prepared For You!
These foods are pretty much prepared for you. All you have to do is
stick it on a scale and in a measuring cup and you are done!

Not only that, IT COSTS YOU A WHOLE LOT LESS than Jenny Craig or
